Sunny conditions for today’s away game against Durrington, a local derby promising action from start to finish. The Salisbury team come in with a strong squad this week as we see Rachel Lang back from injury and the return of Kylie Allen to the starting line up. A last minute change is made for the Salisbury team as Amy Baird is still carrying an injury from last week’s game so Annabel Dugwell steps up in her place as left centre back.

The game gets under way with strong possession from Durrington who are constantly passing through the midfield and pushing towards the Salisbury goal, Salisbury are holding it together at the back and with some fantastic clearances they are staying in the game.

Salisbury find themselves with the ball and Imogen Brady has run through the defence but she has a heavy touch and the ball rolls away from her and now Durrington have a goal kick.

Durrington have pushed forward and are awarded a freekick just past the halfway line. The free kick is used to switch play and Daisy Burnfield has come off her line to collect the ball but the Durrington player runs past her, Gemma Marsh slides in to block the shot but the ball is played off to another player who taps it into the net of the open goal. 1-0 Durrington.

28 minutes into the first half and Salisbury have been awarded a penalty, Imogen Brady steps up to the spot and as calm as you like finds the back of the net 1-1.

Play resumes and Durrington find themselves with majority of the possession again and make a break for the Salisbury goal, goalkeeper Daisy Burnfield dives for the ball and gets both hands to the ball but also takes out the player and the Referee awards a penalty. Penalty taken which sends Daisy Burnfield the wrong way making it 2-1 to Durrington.

Rachel Lang has a great chance on goal before halftime but it was saved by the Durrington keeper. We reach halftime and the ladies walk off the pitch after a tough first half, current score is 2-1.

Georgi Bavister is on at half time to replace Deyna Davie. A few minutes into the second half Durrington make a run down the wing and a shot from distance with a hard strike finds the back of the net making it 3-1 Durrington. Salisbury kick-off again and with a few passes of the ball Durrington have won the ball back and make another run down the wing and take a shot on goal making it 4-1 to Durrington.

Nicky Millings is down with an injury and is subbed off for Beth McKinney who makes her debut for Salisbury.

Salisbury have much more possession of the ball in the second half and are controlling play more, the game is being played in the middle of the pitch and being put out wide to wingers Zoe Alcock and Rachel Lang who both make good runs down both wings but nothing comes to fruition. Good passes are made by Salisbury however they are caught out as Durrington counter attack. They make a run down the wing and are awarded a corner which is picked up comfortably by Daisy Burnfield. Kylie Allen is subbed off due to injury and Nicky Millings is back on the pitch. Salisbury have a free kick which lands in the Durrington box but Salisbury are unable to finish and it’s picked up by the keeper.

Amy Sanger is subbed off and Deyna Davie is back on the pitch, Salisbury play the ball forward and force another good save from the Durrington keeper. Imogen Brady is off with an injury and Gemma Fletcher takes her place. Durrington still apply pressure but with some good clearances from the defence and some great saves from Daisy Burnfield the score is still 4-1 Durrington. With the last few minutes of the game Durrington have a great shot on goal but it hits the crossbar and bounces back into play to find another Durrington player who fires it back at goal but is caught by Daisy Burnfield. Full time whistle is blown and the score finishes 4-1 Durrington.

Player of the match for Salisbury is awarded to goalkeeper Daisy Burnfield who has had a brilliant game in goal making multiple fantastic saves, creating opportunity with her clearances and providing support for the back line, helping with recycling the ball across the pitch.
