The Whites development squad welcome Devizes Town 1st of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Div 1 to the Ray Mac tomorrow night a Wilts Senior cup tie.

The Whites bounced back from a bad run to record their 1st win in what seems like half a season when they overcome local side Shrewton in the Wilts league cup 2nd round tie at the weekend with the opening goal coming from a great run down the right flank from Roocroft that saw him cut in along the bye line before pulling it back to Marcus Read at the back post to tap home.

Dyllan Roocroft also on the scoresheet, as well as getting two assists and winning a penalty for the White’s 2nd goal. Josh Ngombi made light work of putting it away to register the first of a brace for the flying winger and his first goals for the club.

Most pleasing for the coaches and myself, was after going 2-0 up, Shrewton managed to get it back to 2 v 2 and many a young side, including this one in the past would not have been able to pick themselves up again and push for the win, they did and two late goals sealed a place in the next round against Amesbury Town at Bonnymead.

Devizes sit 13th in their league (step 6) having been promoted from the Wilts league last term. In fact, they only came down last season, so it was an immediate bounce back. Tomorrow’s visitors took all 6 points off the Dev last season with 3-0 and 5-0 wins.

Our target for tomorrow night is to get the right performance and attitude first, if we do that then there has to be a chance the Whites can get something from the game, if not a place in the next round. We know we have players that can hurt teams, we just need all 11 of them plus the bench to turn up at the same time.
