Beautiful sunny day away at Calne for Salisbury. First league game of the season, the last time these two sides met was in a pre-season friendly resulting in a 5-2 win to Salisbury.

Salisbury gets the game under way and within one minute Imogen Brady finds the back of the net with a lovely ball from Rachel Lang. After six minutes of play a Calne player has been involved in a 50-50 tackle, she has been stretchered off the pitch and forty minutes later, after both teams refuse to postpone, play resumes.

Fourteen minutes into restarted play and Imogen Brady doubles the score with another assist from Rachel Lang. A foul by Evie Cummings in the Salisbury box and the refs points at the spot. Penalty scored as keeper Daisy Burnfield is sent the wrong way – 2-1 Salisbury. Corner to Salisbury taken by Imogen Brady which after a few touches in the box is put into the back of the net by Ellen Clarke with a fantastic header.

Imogen Brady makes a great run through the defence and chips the keeper for another goal and her hattrick. Shortly after, Calne conceded an own goal after fumbling it in their box. Evie Cummings is subbed off for Salisbury and Annabel Dugwell comes on. Calne find some possession and with a great save from Daisy Burnfield and a few good clearances from the back three, Salisbury retake control of the game.

Only a few minutes left of the first half and Imogen Brady gets another goal assisted by Deyna Davies who is straight in after being subbed on. It ends 7-1 to Salisbury at halftime.

One change at the break and we have Imogen Brady off and Georgi Bavister on. A few good chances from Zoe Alcock who breaks through Calne’s defence multiple times but nothing to show. Amy Sanger subbed on to replace Nicola Millings. Some good pressure from Salisbury who settle in the middle.

Coming up the one hour mark and Calne have pushed the ball forward and Daisy Burnfield has come off her line, the Calne player slips past but the ball is cleared from the line by Captain Gemma Marsh. Imogen Brady is back on the pitch for Annabel Dugwell and after one minute and her first touch finds the back of the net again. Assist from a powerful clearance from Daisy Burnfield. The last ten minutes of the game and Imogen Brady has found another goal, Ellen Clarke is subbed off and Nicola Millings comes back on. Daisy Burnfield with a long goal kick and it’s picked up again by Imogen Brady and once again she fires one into the back of the net.

Full time and the score was 10-1 to Salisbury.

Ellen Clarke took player of the match having showed great dedication and battling in the middle, very much commanding the the pitch whereever she went (which seemed to be everywhere!), topped off with a spectacular header. Overall, Salisbury dominated the match, however Calne put up a courageous battle despite losing a player early on. Our thoughts are with that player who has required hospital treatment.
