This is the last game to be held at the Livestock Market this season before the move to Sarum Academy. Salisbury are trialling a new formation, and have Olivia Leather in the starting line up who makes her debut in midfield.
The game gets underway with Marlborough stringing a few passes together, Salisbury win the ball back in the middle but it’s collected again by Marlborough and they run towards the Salisbury goal, Daisy Burnfield runs out and clears the ball with her body, accidentally batting it away with her shoulder and arm, but it’s outside her box. Yellow card and a free kick awarded to Marlborough. Free kick is taken and swings towards the near post, Daisy Burnfield gets her glove to it but it finds the back of the net, 1-0 to Marlborough.
Play restarts and Salisbury have more control of the ball and settle more into the game, Salisbury begin pushing forward down the middle and on the wings, creating great chances from the front three but nothing to show from it yet. Salisbury are given a corner and it is whipped into the box and finds Olivia Leather’s head as she knocks it across the goal to find Zoe Alcock who finds the back of the net 1-1.
Salisbury are dominating the possession and keep driving towards the Marlborough goal, Deyna Davie receives the ball from Amy Sanger and outpaces a defender, demonstrates quick feet, and then cuts in with a fantastic shot but is denied what should have been a perfect goal as it bounces off the crossbar.
Zoe Alcock runs down the wing and passes to Deyna Davie who passes it off to Amy Sanger who takes a touch and smashes with her right foot, finding the back of the net, brilliant link up play and great finish. Whistle is blown for half time, score is 2-1.
The second half gets underway and within minutes Marlborough are awarded a free kick outside the box again but this one is easily saved by Daisy Burnfield. Salisbury have the possession again and Imogen Brady is taken down just inside the Marlborough box and is awarded a penalty. She steps up to the spot and finds the back of the net 3-1 Salisbury.
Salisbury keep applying the pressure and with a great pass from Deyna Davie, Zoe Alcock makes a run and finds the back of the net making it 4-1. Imogen Brady is subbed off, Evie Cummings is pushed up into her spot and Kelly Church takes Evie’s spot as right centre back.
Marlborough start off again but soon after kick off Salisbury reclaim the ball and make another run forward, a pass from Deyna Davie to find Zoe Alcock again who finds the back of the net, getting her hattrick and Deyna Davie with her 3rd assist of the game, 5-1.
Amy Sanger is off the pitch and replaced by Beth McKinney who takes her place in midfield. Marlborough have some rare possession and make a good run and with a few good passes they force Daisy Burnfield to come off her line and take a shot on goal, but captain Gemma Marsh makes a fantastic goal line clearance to deny the goal. Salisbury have the ball again and clear it up field.
Deyna Davie now has her chance to put her name on the score sheet as she’s passed the ball and cuts in toward goal, beating the Marlborough defenders and placing her shot in the left corner which easily beats the goalkeeper, 6-1.
Three substitutions are made just before the end of the game and we see Captain Gemma Marsh, Deyna Davie and Olivia Leather replaced by Amy Walkley as centre back, Georgie Bavister up top and Gemma Fletcher to sit in the middle. The Captain’s armband is passed to Kylie Allen.
Marlborough have more time on the ball and create a few chances in the final minutes of the game and are awarded a freekick just outside the box after Amy Walkley goes in for a tackle but handballs the ball. The freekick is taken and comfortably saved by Daisy Burnfield. The final whistle is blown and the game finishes 6-1 to Salisbury.
Deyna Davie is given Player of the match for her outstanding performance with 3 assists and 1 goal.
