With the cost of energy being so high at the moment, there is a conversation around non-league football about starting games earlier on a Saturday. An obvious bonus, especially during the winter months, is that we will reduce the use of floodlights. These cost over £200 per match to use which is almost triple what it was last season. As a Club, we have considered the pros and cons of such a move. We believe we can adjust almost everything to make it work at this earlier time without losing too much other income.
Our most important consideration is your view. It must work for our supporters. No time has currently been agreed, but we believe it will be a 1 pm kick-off. We do think away teams travelling over 2.5 hours should be considered for later kick-offs but a lot of games in our league fall within that journey time.
