Tomorrow night the development squad welcome Shrewton United to the Ray Mac for a Wiltshire Premier league fixture under the lights.
The Whites 2nd string are unbeaten since the end of February with three wins and two draws, the last being away to 3rd place Wroughton last Saturday. For the coaching staff that point felt like a win given the changes to the line up against a top 4 contender. The game also saw a debut for one of our under 16’s Joseph Sullivan, who most definitely didn’t look out of place and will be included in the squad again v Shrewton.
Abdul Razak’s goals (5 in 6) since joined combined with Roocroft’s 4 during the same time period have been vital to the sides improved form over the last two months with the two quickly forming a deadly partnership up top. However with three of the squad including Dyllan currently on 1st team duties comes opportunities for others to impress and one that has is Charlie Wooding over the last couple of games.
With the Southern league coming to an end this coming Saturday why not extend your season by taking in some of the three remaining home games the development side has.
This Saturday we head to Frome, then it’s back home for a bank holiday weekend bonanza at the Ray Mac when on the 29th we welcome Stratton and quickly following that on bank holiday Monday is a massive clash with Trowbridge Town being the visitors in what will be a must win game for them in their bid for the title and promotion back to step 6.
First of all though it is Shrewton that will visit us. In early December a rampant Whites put 9 past Shrewton, however that result led to huge player changes by our visitors and their results, even if they haven’t taken the points all the time have seen a significant improvement. This game has to be seen as a must win for them to give them a chance to climb out of the relegation zone. For the Whites we feel 3 more points should see us safe in mid table.
Needless to say I think this game will be a serious test for both sides and should be a very entertaining game.
