The Whites have been knocked out of the FA Trophy after a defeat away at Sittingbourne.

The match started out with a scrappy affair, with neither side managing to have much possession.

The first notable action came when Troy Howard was set through on the Salisbury goal, the wide-man’s strike hit the post and rolled to safety from a Whites perspective.

The half continued in a scrappy fashion with no more chances presenting themselves.

Sittingbourne went into the changing rooms at halftime the happier of the two sides, the Kent side looked the more fired up for the battle.

After a lengthy delay in getting back underway due to a faulty floodlight, it was the hosts who took charge.

Dan Lincoln did not deal with a long-range effort, which resulted in the opening goal. The goalkeeper made contact with the strike, but the ball looped back over his head and into the net. Richie Hamill was the goal scorer.

In the 57th, Salisbury managed to fashion a chance through Noah Coppin, he almost flicked it over the Sittingbourne keeper but a strong hand was enough to deny the forward.

Going a goal down did seem to give the Whites a boost, the football improved as did the tempo.

Despite the improvement, it was Sittingbourne who doubled their lead. The Kent side capitalized on a poor back pass before Henry Senai smashed the ball home in the 92nd.

There was late hope for Salisbury, Ronan Silva was taken out by the keeper providing the Whites with a spot kick. Silva converted the penalty, and Salisbury rushed back for the restart.

It would all prove to be too little too late as moments later the referee sounded his whistle, it was Sittingbourne the team to progress to the next round.
