Salisbury welcome Aveley to the Ray Mac this Saturday for their penultimate Vanarama National League South home game of the season – their final home Saturday fixture.
Brian Dutton’s side are still very much the right side of the relegation zone line, with three points and two places separating them from the four places that would see a return to the Southern League.
Aveley are currently bottom of the table, and relegation is already confirmed as the season draws to a close.
The visitors are also second bottom of the form table, only picking up one draw, away at Hemel Hempstead a few weeks ago. Though, as all Whites supporters are already aware, there is no easy games in this league.
When these two sides met earlier in the season, on a Monday night in early March, the game ended in a two-two draw, with Salisbury needing a very late equaliser from Josh Sommerton to gain that point.
In their last game, Slough put three past Aveley in their first game since relegation was confirmed following their defeat in the previous match to Torquay. Goals in the first half from Guy Hollis and player-manager Scott Davies were added to in the second half by Joshua Jackman to give mid-table Slough a comfortable win.
Following that defeat against Torquay, the club announced that manager Danny Scopes would depart at the end of the season. They have already announced a replacement in Brett Munyard, who will take over the reins at the end of this term.
Salisbury have been doing just enough to keep their heads above water and picked up seven points from their last six matches, winning their previous two home games against Hampton & Richmond and, more recently, Tonbridge Angels. The latter result despite the club being hit by an illness bug that led to both first team coach, Theo Lewis and assistant manager, Callum Hart, being named amongst the substitutes.
They lost their last game, away at play-off-chasing Boreham Wood, with many of the squad still suffering the effects of the illness bug. Matt Rush scored a first-half brace, and Enrio Sousa added a rocket for the third in the second half.
Brian Dutton has called for everyone to come together and help get his side over the line in the final stages of the season:
UNITE IN WHITE at the RAY MAC for the game against Aveley.
Salisbury FC supporters are being urged to wear white to the home game against Aveley this Saturday at the Ray Mac.
With the club still striving to maintain their status in the Vanarama National League South, the club will be looking to pick up valuable points in the remaining four fixtures.
That begins at home this Saturday with Aveley the visitors for the 3 pm kick off.
