Salisbury FC are delighted to announce the signing of experienced defender Luke Wilkinson.
Wilkinson most recently played for Woking in the Vanarama National League, leaving the club as his contract expired after making 49 appearances for the Cards over two seasons.
The Wells-born defender (33) began his youth career at Bristol City before impressing on trial at then Premier League club Portsmouth. First-team manager Paul Hart described it as the “most impressive debut” from any young player.
During his spell at Portsmouth, he had loan spells at Northampton Town and Eastleigh before making over 230 appearances in the EFL for teams including Stevenage, Luton Town and Dagenham & Redbridge.
After leaving Stevenage, he moved to Yeovil Town and then to Woking, where he played in the National League.
Brian Dutton said on securing Wilkinson’s services for the coming season, “I’m delighted to sign Luke. He’s a fantastic footballer who has a proven track record of success at levels above the National League South.
“With the average age of our squad being just 23 it was very important to me we secured a player with the experience and leadership qualities Luke possesses.
“I’m sure you will all join me in welcoming Luke and his family to Salisbury FC.”
