The points were shared in the Wiltshire derby between two sides both in need of a result.
A reshuffle in attack saw Noah Coppin come into the starting eleven to play alongside Matty Taylor and in front of Matt Briggs.
The manager’s decision was almost repaid early on as the Whites looked the more determined to go ahead in the first half, aiming to take the sting out of the occasion.
And eventually, it was.
Salisbury were able to take the lead around the half-hour mark after Briggs won possession high up the pitch and squaring it to Taylor for a tap-in.
Not long after, the man who provided the assist for the opener doubled the scoring when an Ollie Morgan effort connected with Briggs’s head on the rebound.
However, a struggling Chippenham were not out for the count, as they pulled one back from a corner that resulted in an own goal for the visitors.
In the opening minutes of the second half, however, a momentum shift was evident, as the Bluebirds dominated possession and the hosts found an equaliser around the hour mark direct from a corner, thanks to Henry Sady.
There were not many more attempts on goal in the second half, but notable chances for both teams went begging, as both sides hit the woodwork later on.
In what seemed a fair result on the night, it sees Salisbury move up to 21st in the table as Chippenham remain rock bottom.
