A thrilling game filled to the brim with goals ends The Whites’ FA Cup run, despite a second half charge which saw Tommy Lee-Higgs score early in the second half, with Noah Coppin bagging a goal to follow.
The first action of the game fell inside the opening minute, as Salisbury thought they had broken the deadlock early – like Dorking had done to them days prior. Matt Briggs set up Noah Coppin, whose effort from just outside the 6-yard box collided with the post and ricocheted in, but this was missed by the referee.
Minutes later, Ollie Morgan finds space on the left, he fired the cross into the box, before it collided into the defence, falling to George Penn, who struck the ball first time. It was saved by Noah Phillips.
In the 13th minute, a long throw in from Jimmy Muitt flew into a sea of bodies, skimming the arm of Hayden Muller. The referee awarded a penalty which Jason Prior slotted away for his side’s first.
Ten minutes later, Alfie Rutherford twisted and turned in front of goal for Dorking, eventually unleashing the shot into the waiting arms of Will Buse.
Dom Revan launched a thundering charge down the centre of the pitch, breaking through into the box, before Daniel Pybus snuffed the effort.
Alfie Rutherford bagged the second for Dorking, he made his way past Harry Tustin then looped the shot over the top of Will Buse to find the second goal.
The second half brought a flurry of action, as a thundering strike from the edge of the box soared into the back of the net for Tommy Lee-Higgs.
But, less than a minute later Jimmy Muitt went up the other end and restored the deficit, beating Will Buse.
Half chances were exchanged in the 65th minute, Harry Revill laid the ball off to Matt Briggs, who was surrounded by defenders, who managed to clear the ball.
Then Dennon Lewis put a ball across the box for the hosts, but a crucial touch from Harry Revill just took the ball out of play.
In the 79th minute, Alfie Rutherford took a free kick for Dorking, which he curled low around the defensive wall, finding his second goal.
As the game climbed into the 80th minute, Salisbury found another goal. Matty Taylor struck, as his effort collided off Noah Phillips. Noah Coppin was there waiting to pounce, as he found the roof of the net.
This final goal saw the final standings stay at 4-2, with Salisbury now looking ahead to Torquay at home this weekend.
