Salisbury FC are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Callum Watts from Chelmsford City.

Watts, 22, scored three goals in 37 appearances in all competitions for Chelmsford last season. Prior to that, he played for Bath City, Taunton, and Grays Athletic, where he scored 15 goals in 54 appearances.

A product of the Southampton Youth system, the midfielder joins from Chelmsford, who finished second in the Vanarama National League South side last term.

On securing Watts, Brian Dutton said, “I’m delighted to bring Callum in. He fits our profile of a young, hungry player who is determined to further his career.

“We were fortunate that due to circumstances outside of football, he was relocating to the south-west, and with Aaron McCreadie leaving recently, we needed to fill the void.

“Callum is only young, but he was a key member of a Chelmsford Team that finished second in the National League South, contributing with over thirty appearances.

“Callum is a high-energy midfielder with an eye for a goal; what he lacks in physical stature, he makes up for in tenacity and determination. I’m sure the Ray Mac faithful will enjoy his contribution and welcome him to Salisbury.”

Salisbury FC would like to thank Chelmsford City for making the transfer happen quickly so that Watts is available for this afternoon’s fixture with Dorking Wanderers.

Alex Rutter has joined Wimborne Town on a month-long loan.
