Salisbury FC can announce the signing of a loan goalkeeper and the return of a well-known face to the Ray Mac.

Rhys Byrne, 22, arrives on loan from Leyton Orient to provide cover in goal with injuries to both Dan Lincoln and Alex Rutter.

Byrne played in the Vanarama National League South whilst on loan at Dartford last season.

On signing the ‘keeper, Brian Dutton said, “I’m delighted to bring Rhys in. He’s shown a real willingness to come here, and we want to repay his attitude with the opportunity.”

Returning to the Ray Mac for his fourth spell at the club is a forward who needs little introduction, Dan Fitchett.

Fitch,33, who started the season at Sholing before moving to Gosport Borough, returns to provide a different attacking option to Brian Dutton’s team.

Fitchett played a big part in Salisbury’s promotion push last season, causing problems for defenders with his strong hold-up play and ability to bring others into play.

After sealing Fitchett’s return, Brian Dutton said, “I’m really pleased to bring Fitch back. I think he’s missed us just as much as we’ve missed him.

“We’re obviously crying out for another player at the top end of the pitch to secure possession and bring his teammates into the game.

“He has an affinity with the club and supporters, and when he’s up-to speed, he will show he still has the capabilities to perform at this level.”
