On Saturday (18th January), Brian Dutton’s side travel to Chippenham for the second Wiltshire derby this season.
The two sides first met in September when Salisbury ran out 3-2 winners at the Ray Mac. The game was a good ding-dong battle, with Salisbury taking the lead twice, first through Jordan Ragguette, then Aiden Elliott-Wheeler, only for Chippenham to peg them back.
Josh Hedges scored the winner with 79 minutes on the clock in a game that saw a bit of everything, with disallowed goals, penalty claims, and had a fiesty edge to it.
Chippenham come into the game on a mixed run of league form, having lost at home to Bath on Boxing Day, winning away at Weston-super-Mare on New Year’s Day, and most recently drawing away at Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.
The draw was the first point that Chippenham had picked up in Tonbridge in their last five visits. Chippenham led at halftime thanks to a goal from Mehew in the 42nd minute.
Tonbridge levelled early in the second half, and neither team was able to find a breakthrough to win the game.
Salisbury are unbeaten in their last three league fixtures, but haven’t played a league fixture since New Year’s Day, with a mix of cup commitments and postponed fixtures.
In the last match, Salisbury ran out 5-3 winners away at Melksham Town in the Wiltshire FA Premier Shield Quarter Final, with a debut goal from Lewis Brown and one for the returning Dan Fitchett saw Salisbury lead 5-0 at halftime, with five different goal scorers.
The hosts came back into the game in the second half, but Salisbury had enough to see them through the tie.
